Faders puts a volume slider on every app that plays sound, in the menu bar. It needs macOS 14.2 or later.

Why does Faders ask for System Audio Recording?
macOS only lets a third-party app change another app's volume by tapping that app's audio and playing it back at a different level. That tap is what the permission covers. Faders records nothing and has no network access. See the privacy policy.
An app went quiet, or Faders says it isn't receiving audio
That is what a missing permission looks like. Open System Settings, Privacy & Security, Screen & System Audio Recording, make sure Faders is on, then click Try again in the panel (or Check again in Faders Settings under Permission). If it still fails, quit Faders from the menu bar icon and open it again.
One app, several windows
When an app runs as several separate copies (several Roblox Studio places, or apps opened twice), its row shows a count. Click it to set each window on its own; the app's own slider stays the master and scales all of them. Tabs and windows of one browser share a single audio stream in macOS, so a browser always stays one row. Click Show names to label windows by their titles (this needs the Screen Recording permission); otherwise they are numbered, and the one in front is marked.
Turning Faders off
The switch at the top of the panel turns Faders off: every app plays at its own volume again. Your levels are kept and come back when you switch it on.
An app isn't listed
Apps appear when they play audio and stay for ten minutes after they stop. Turn on List every app that can play audio in Settings to see every app with an audio connection. Hidden apps come back with the eye icon in the panel header.
Keyboard shortcuts
- Open or close the panel
- ⌃⌥V
- Turn the app in front up
- ⌃⌥↑
- Turn the app in front down
- ⌃⌥↓
- Mute or unmute the app in front
- ⌃⌥M
When the app in front isn't playing, the volume keys act on the top app in the list. Change any shortcut in Settings: click a field and press the new keys. Backspace clears a shortcut, Escape cancels.
Scripting with faders:// links
Raycast, Shortcuts, or a Terminal can drive Faders through its URL scheme. app takes a bundle identifier, an app name, or front.
open "faders://volume?app=Music&value=40"
open "faders://volume?app=front&delta=-10"
open "faders://mute?app=Safari"
open "faders://reset?app=Music"
open "faders://open"A Bluetooth headset drops to call quality
Some headsets switch to their low-quality profile when any app opens their microphone. Faders asks macOS not to run the microphone side, but if your headset still switches, set the app back to 100% so Faders releases the tap.
Sending a log
Faders Settings, Maintenance, Show in Finder reveals the log file. It contains app names and volume changes only. Attach it to your email if you like.
